This study aims to recognize the importance of behavioral change theory in design and base on the TTM (Transtheoretical Model) theory, which is most commonly used in behavioral change related researches, to provide design strategies strived for energy conservation. TTM (Transtheoretical Model) theory is currently actively applied to practical fields such as nursing, physical education, and psychology and survey questionnaires are applied to distinguish the stages of the target and guidelines appropriate to each stage are provided to induce positive behavioral changes. In order to develop a questionnaire for energy conservation, questionnaires of each field used in previous literature reviews were collected and reviewed. Additionally, investigation process was conducted in accordance to the behavioral know-how required for energy conservation.
As a result of conducting preliminary investigation of the developed questionnaire, it was possible to measure the stage of the targets and there were differences in the factors of changes according to the stages. Furthermore, there were differences according to the age, gender, and household structure. This study will begin with the preliminary survey and will conduct verification and measurement for many subjects in the future and become developed so that strategies can be provided upon planning of design for energy conservation.
