While there is an increase in cases overseas where ornamental characteristics are applied in overseas exhibition spaces, the reality is that it is difficult to find such applications in domestic exhibition spaces. By breaking away from static exhibitions, through diverse exhibition production methods, to attempt new approaches and for effective exhibitions it is determined that there is a need to plan exhibition spaces while applying ornamental expressive characteristics in exhibition spaces. This research study selected and collectively analyzed overseas permanent installation exhibition spaces from 2013 and on that had a strong element of ornamental expressive characteristics. The ornamental expressive characteristics, which were derived based on literature and precedent researched, were analyzed based on the framework of the keywords `repeatability, differentiation, binding, inference, and imitation`.
This research is significant in that it proposes a direction for exhibition production that caters to modern expectations that emphasizes the importance of the visual aspects of space that is made possible when the ornamental expressive characteristics through decorative elements in an exhibition space and ornamental elements in a space are applied.
Therefore through further diverse research on ornamental expressive characteristics, this research expects to provide meaningful research and applications for various exhibition production methods.
