Despite the recent emphasis on the importance of vocabulary education in Korean education, grammar study continues to take a big portion of class and vocabulary study remains as a means of running speaking, reading and writing classes smoothly. There are not many occasions of studying and practicing the uses of vocabulary during class. If the teachers do not prepare an activity for vocabulary study or provide detailed information about vocabulary, the students are only left with a few options including corresponding the vocabulary in the textbook with that of their mother tongues one-on-one and depending on the example sentences in the textbook. Even when the teachers have interest in teaching the vocabulary, they have a difficult time, not knowing how to teach the vocabulary. In order to find proper teaching methods and thus help the students use the vocabulary accurately, the teachers should make sure that they know the meanings, grammar, and pragmatic information of the vocabulary and further understand what kind of errors the students make regarding the vocabulary. Thus this study set out to investigate the errors the Korean learners made when using ``Jagi``, which is one of the words that they make frequent errors with The study also aimed to propose plans of teaching the word to help the Korean learners make those errors no more and contribute to the teaching of Korean vocabulary.
