In this paper I review theoretical and statistical views of Korean collocation and suggest a best statistical method for detecting collocations between adverbs and predicates. In the meantime, a variety of statistical methods such as mutual information, t-test, chi-squared test are used in the fields of corpus linguistics, but in this paper I adopted G-test which is a kind of likelihood-ratio or maximum likelihood statistical significance test that is increasingly being used in situations where the application of chi-squared test was limited. This analysis using G-test showed that the ratio is much more suitable for collocations of adverbs and predicates in Korean compared to other statistical methods. Through this analysis we could find out ways to avoid the vagueness of Korean collocations from theoretical views and come up with statistically well-founded collocation constructions between adverbs and predicates.
