The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between blood pressure and isometric exercise in college male students. Subjects were 10 male college students(average age 19.2±1.6) who have no health problems. All subjects had IRM test for upper arms and lower legs that range of joint is limited in 90degree. Then the intensity of 40%RM and 70%RM was decided based on the test. Same intensity was given to each part of body for 2 minutes and 60 minutes rest was given whenever intensity and body part were changed. The change of blood pressure according to intensity of body part was measured in total 4times for 2 minutes. Results are as follows.1. There was no significant difference in systolic and diastolic blood pressure for upper body of arm curl, bench press, and lateral raise and for lower body of leg curl, leg extension, and leg press2. For all body parts, there were significant difference in change of blood pressure for rest period and exercise according to exercise intensity, 40%RM, 70%RM and there were significant difference in arm curl, lateral raise, and all parts of lower body for blood pressure change of 40%RM and 70%RM intensity.Above results indicated that there was a significant blood pressure increase but within 180 mmHg for systolic when isometric exercise of upper arms and lower legs in 40%RM·70%RM for 2 minutes were given. Therefore, this result can be applied to sport setting compared to previous studies. More studies for detail intensity are needed to be done in future.
