This study performed a questionaire survey in order to identify what people desire for residential environment after retirement. The main findings are follows. First, people preferred rural housings in suburban areas and agricultural village to inner city location. Second, people revealed a strong preference toward the importance of convenience in use of natural environment, medical service, and cultural facilities. Third, the family life style has been changed from children-oriented to couple-oriented style by showing that more people liked to stay with spouse than with their children after retirement.
