Many chemical substances have been used in order to improve the durability of the residences and the performance of construction work, and as a result of it, there occurred formaldehyde and volatile organic chemical substances in the interior finishing materials. This lead to the pathological phenomenon such as the new house syndrome and hypersensitiveness about environmental materials, threatening the health of the residents. In line with this, in the situation where the interest in the healthy residence is being magnified more than ever, the surveying on the perception of the residents about the interior finishing materials is judged to be meaningful. Accordingly, the purpose of this research was to investigate on the perception of the residents on health matters by interviewing many experienced interior experts who participated in the residents’ selection process of the interior finishing materials.
