Hanok is Korea’s traditional houses, From 1970s, the vast majority of citizens who lives not Hanok but an apartment has a long experience in living in. Many people is not familiar with traditional Hanok, because an apartment houses became a popular instead of Hanok, and Many debate are remained how we can get ideal the characteristics of Hanok and it can be a sustainable housing.
The purpose of this study examines the process by how modern architecture and traditional Hanok affected, and modern homes over the course of the formation and popularization of traditional architecture and is being projected onto the relevant re-Hanok architecture are investigated. The subjects include Seoul, Jeonju, and Chongju in early 1900, and the upper class hanok and and improve the traditional Hanok are discussed by the modern architects’ discussions about improving of Hanok.
