This thesis is written to study four in mental disorder by Lee Cheong-joon on the point of view in Freud`s psychoanalysis. <The leaving hospital> and <The wall of rumour> are novels about neurosis. The character of <The leaving hospital>, I am neurotic from infantile mental trauma. I am pressed by unconscious wish to mother and fear of castration. The fear is expressed by the flashlight, whish his father lighted up him when he had slept secretly in the dark storehouse. The flashlight become symbolic father in<The wall of rumour>. Bak Joon is novelist attacked with confession-phobia in <The wall of rumour>. His symptom is the rejection to confess about himself from other`s gaze. His neurosis cause from threat of castration, the flashlight of symbolic father. His rejection to confess is repressed wish of confession. This wish of confession is the opposition to symbolic father. <The enraptured disappearance> and <Mr. Jo Man-deuk> are novels about psychosis. Youn Il-sup is a schizophrenia patient in <The enraptured disappearance>. He want to be shut up in a grille, because he regards it as safeguard. Thus driving a lion in a grille of zoo, he has been shut up in it for himself. Mr. Jo Man-deuk is a megalomania patient in <Mr. Jo Man-deuk>. He has made illusion that he is millionaire. His wish make his symptom. Youn Il-sup and Mr. Jo take refuge in the symptom to avoid his miserable reality. These two novels criticize the reality in which they cannot but become insane. The problem that these novels bring up, adapt not only mental disorder but also order. We all hold the trouble in common. These suggest that the reality of absurdity is obstinate but we should not surrender to it.
