Objective: The aim of this study is to examine and improve the websites providing medical information to the public in Korea by surveying the important factors influencing the usability of current medical information websites. Background: The study examining the usability of current portal sites such as shopping mall websites is very active. However, it has not been performed to study the usability of professional websites which can provide medical information. Method: For this study, important factors influencing the usability of each medical information website were surveyed after the factors influencing the value of medical information websites were classified and task scenarios were established. Results: Comparing obtained data, this study demonstrated various results for each category of important factors influencing the usability. It was possible to obtain valuable ideas which can contribute to improving the interface of current medical information websites. Conclusion: The usability of medical information websites depends on the personal characteristics and sensitivity, and it is required that medical information websites should organize and update the users’ guideline for the effective delivery of medical information to the public.
