The purpose of this study is to suggest an improvement plan after examining the current status of the Job Coach Services at KEAD. Job coaches are professionals specialized in assisting individuals with significant disabilities to learn and accurately carry out job duties.
We conducted document research and data analysis on Supported Employment. Based on the results, we filed a questionnaire and surveyed 1,089 job coaches in total and received 259 responses(respond rate of 23.8%).
This study proposes following schemes to improve the current Job Coach Services at KEAD.
The first scheme is for work procedures of the Job Coach Services: The pre-education on training and support should be conducted optionally according to the experiences and characteristics of each job coach; The attendance (absence and tardiness) records should be checked by the personnel at workplace; training methods for the job coaches should be made in a variety of ways tailored to the needs of the job coaches; The education course on ongoing supports should be developed in order to improve the professional supporting skill of the job coaches.
The second scheme is for management system of the job coaches: The pre-education on ongoing support should be carried out since such support towards the clients is another important part of a job coach’s services and his/her role in the support differs from in-training and support; Daily job coach allowance should be fairly divided by working hours; The beginning month of Commissioned Administration should be changed from March to January.
