A worldview is the most basic yet comprehensive set of beliefs and presuppositions by which people make sense of the world. Christian educators have understood that the formation of a “biblical worldview” is foundational. Yet, what we mean by a biblical worldview is not altogether clear. This article explores the worldview of the apostle Paul in his Letter to the Romans, which makes sense of the world through the gospel. Some understand “gospel” as the main theme of Romans. However, it is far more comprehensive in that Paul appears to understand nature, purpose, goodness, evil, and remedy within the gospel framework. He makes sense of the most basic questions of life through the gospel worldview. In so doing, he models for us today a biblical worldview that is gospel centered.
