Although Asia has experienced remarkable economic growth for the past two decades, the growth has been followed by social and economic inequality and environmental degradation. The challenges that Asia faces remain as big obstacles and appropriate measures need to be taken for the region’s sustainability. Hence, in order for Asia to pursue sustainable growth, the study emphasizes that the region needs to address the following areas: energy, transportation, urbanization, water security, biodiversity, oceans, and climate
change. The linkage between economic development and environmental protection is definite and it is imperative that both grow in a same direction in Asia.
