This study have conducted to check the long-term bird community trends and factors(artificial and environmental) affecting its population dynamics through monitoring of avifauna between 2007 and 2015. A total of 279 species were recorded during the study period, and the most numerically dominant species was Anser fabalis (34.2%). Annual trends of the number of species were not significantly changed, whereas the population of bird community declined. The bird density and number of species were the highest in autumn (Mean=1,256/km2) and Spring (Mean=98), respectively. The number of annual average species and individuals were found maximum at E site but birds density was found maximum at A site. Temporal trends of population dynamics between 1996 and 2008∼2015 showed variations of waterbird communities in the Ganwol Lake district. Recently, Anser fabalis, Cygnus cygnus, Grus monacha have increased rapidly but Anas platyrhynchos, A. formosa, A. acuta dominated in the past have decreased rapidly. The population of bird community was affected by processing of human activity in Ganwol Lake district and after the beginning of dredging, the population of Diving waterbird and Anas formosa have steadily decreased. During the wintering period, the density of water birds was positively correlated with water temperature, suspended solid, pH, and total phosphorus but negatively correlated with dissolved oxygen.
