When it is rain, Jeju is not pooled and embedded into underground waterways, geographically, When it is not rain a lot, It is dry river. As a result, Jeju’s village was planned around spring water. But project site, Geonip-dong, Jeju was plenty of water from the past can contribute to the castle’s water area of San Ji River. There are some problem in San Ji River. After 1993, River San Ji was restored, because of environment. However, They still have social problem like homeless, horizontal entertainment and etc. Because they have no program for a community. So, The plan was necessary to respond to the status of their surroundings.
The purpose of these project is to suggest public facilities based on Tamna Culture Plaza plan planned at 2009. Frist, make a network between green axis in Geumsan Ecological Park and bule axis in River, San Ji. Second, River San Ji, which was deficient restoration by Dongmun market, restore. integrally. Finally, propose the community facilities at anchor area.
Water Cultural Hall in Geumsan Ecological park propose by maintenance, transposition and new construction. Their program is exhibition, experience and care the river. Futhermore, Dongmun market cut River, San Ji. This proposal is reconnect river, San Ji, and connect market between esatside and westside, by community deck and bridge.
This plan will be plan of cultural regeneration including their plentiful history and locality, and important example about regeneration of Jeju old downtown with water.
