Logistic systems have developed in par with advances in information systems. The fundamental design issues that arise in the container terminal location and routing problems are system optimization problems with minimum cost and maximum throughput and service level. For this type of problem, the method of distance measure and optimal location problem considering all the geographical information system (GIS), this study is concerned with a comparative study on development of 3-D GIS distance and 3-D GIS based VRP model. First we developed 3-D GIS distance model using both mathematical and 3-D GIS. Second, we developed 3-D GIS VRP model. The detail computer programs are developed for this tutorial purpose and for the users, the sample results of this method have been compared with those of existing methods and it was known that the proposed method is very effective on a set of test problems.
