It is a recent trend that growing interest of Korean Churches about Islam has led to growing interest in Muslim evangelism. The growth of evangelists and organizations targeting Muslims in Muslim society and in Korea reflects this phenomenon. However, such interest and efforts of evangelism do not appear to be fruitful. The reason ministers of activities among Muslims are ineffective may be due to the method of evangelism being used. Considering such situations, the purpose of this article is to find common reasons that motivate Muslims different in cultural and social backgrounds that come to Christ. The commonalities will be used to establish basic principles for Muslim evangelism. Historical and empirical cases are used to seek the basic principles for deriving a concrete method in a variety of situations. Five types seen in the history of Muslim evangelism were classified and researched. For empirical case studies, the findings of the recorded testimonies of Muslims and the results of studies of field workers were used.

Results from historical and empirical studies show that Muslims came to Christ by reacting to a variety of relational, intellectual, and supernatural motives. Looking at these results, the method used on a Muslim community may not yield the same results as on another community. Nevertheless, there are three factors that seemed to cause Muslims to convert to Christianity. The first factor is the impact of the mature attitudes and lifestyle of Christians. This study shows that the attitudes and lifestyle of Christians had a large influence on Muslims who were converted to Christianity. The second factor is contextualized evangelism. This study shows that even if they had different backgrounds, they came to Christ when they heard the Gospel in a way that was culturally and religiously familiar. This way includes not only Islamic factors but also their image, knowledge, and information about Christianity and the Church. The third factor is bold and clear presentation of the Gospel. This study shows that the attitudes and lives of Christians lead Muslims to come to Christ, but the ones who actually make a decision are impacted by the ones who testify of their faith with boldness and clarity. This may seem unusual to those who think that bold and open testimony creates only negative responses, but we need to examine the result reasonably. Despite the fact that the Bible says "faith comes from hearing the message" (Romans 10:17), if there is not a calling through the proclamation of the Gospel, there will not be a conversion. What this study shows is that the method of evangelism which workers use is important and will result in effective evangelism towards Muslims if it goes together with the three aforementioned factors.
