In South Korea, there has been a gradual increase in housing price over the last 20 years. At the same time, there has also been a rapid increase in the time of the first marriage. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of increasing housing price on timing of first marriage, using 2003-2014 the Korean Labor and Income Panel Survey(KLIPS). Special attention was given to the effects of regional housing price on the probability and timing of first marriage based on gender difference. Cox’s proportional hazards model was applied to find out the factors that influence the timing of first marriage. The empirical evidence of this study revealed that housing price has a significant impact on timing of first marriage for both men and women. In addition, the age for the first marriage has gradually increased over the last 10 years. Furthermore, there has been a strong effect of parental economic position on the probability and timing of first marriage, and such an effect is particularly evident for men more than women.
