This study was conducted to analyze the awareness and needs about pre-retirement education of teachers and to suggest educational program design and operational plan. To fulfill these purposes, the respondents are elementary, middle, and high school teachers who are at the age of 40 or more in Busan and Yangsan City. 323 teachers have responded and their responses were used as data for analysis. The demand survey for pre-retirement education of teachers turned out that the awareness about the necessity for pre-retirement education was high.
This program contains 7 domains, such as life design, health care, pastimeㆍhobby, community service, trend understanding, post-retirement employmentㆍthe founding of a business, financial management. As a result, it turned out that teachers had various needs to program contents of pre-retirement education. Experts in this field are most desired as instructors. The teaching methods of experiences study and cases presentation are most favored. Based on the results of needs level and operational requirements of programs contents according to the needs of subcategories, the operational plans of pre-retirement education program are made up of 9 subjects of required courses, 29 subjects of optional courses and 5 days, 40 hours as the duration of the program. Moreover, in order to specifically perform it, the program is carried out by writing specific teaching-learning plan.
