This study is empirically intended to pore over the status and problems of volunteer activities for the activation of church people’s volunteer activities as a community of faith, and look for implications and developmental alternatives. To achieve this, a survey of participation in volunteer activities according to gender, age, duty in the church, and attendance at Sunday morning worship was carried out to believers. For participation in volunteer activities according to age, many believers under the age of 20 did absolutely no volunteer activities, but they began to do volunteer activities after the age of 40. They reached the zenith of volunteer activities at the age of 40~59, and they began to reduce volunteer activities again at the age of 60. For participation in volunteer activities according to duty in the church, many Christians did no volunteer activities. Nearly 40% of acting deacons did no volunteer activities. But 82% of deaconesses-who do 1 or more volunteer activities-participated in meetings of district as well as volunteer activities, led by them. For participation in volunteer activities according to attendance at Sunday morning worship, believers-who attend at Sunday morning worship faithfully-were very enthusiastic about volunteer activities. Most believers-who attended at Sunday morning worship 4 times a month, i.e. every week-had the most active participation in volunteer activities. There are believers who attend at Sunday morning worship less than once every 2 months, but who are interested in volunteer activities. The easily accessible volunteer programs will help them to be confirmed in their belief through volunteer activities. It is a known fact that believers-who attend at Sunday morning worship-do many volunteer activities, but there are many believers who do absolutely no volunteer activities. Given that deaconesses of more than 82% are actively participating in volunteer activities, their volunteer activities can be kept by them as their participation is a periodical phenomenon that they can protect their home and devote themselves to spreading the gospel. But they will likely to have the limit of leading organizational activities, volunteer activities, and services of district seen as their exclusive property in an environment that most of husbands and wives have a dual income. Consequently, church members need to have an eye for volunteer activities allotted by each duty through education and boost participation in volunteer activities with deeper devotion and responsibility as community members in the church.
