The study aims to provide implications regarding the future of tourism development by reviewing the interaction between the policy of tourism development and the legislation and the history of the act and examining the status of the tourism development of Korea in terms of the legislation. To this end, the current situation of the tourism development including tourist destinations and districts was analyzed. In addition to this, to identify demand for revision of the legislation, the study concentrated on the tourism development related Acts and regulations including Tourism Promotion Act and constitutional petition, complaints submitted to e-People, interpretation query of local government, legislative bills and opinions regarding the law from the central government officials were reviewed.
As a result, it is required to reorganize the legislation system related to the tourism development and also to develop new measure to promote and diversify improvement. Lastly, the first priority is to revise the legislation system as the demand for the revision was high particularly on the specific clauses of the current law including designation of tourist sites and complexes and establishment of the development plan.
