The purpose of this study is to investigate how the content of the unconscious that Jung speaks reveals oneself as a symbol of the archetype. Especially this study focused on how archetype is revealed as symbol of mandala in the individuation process to seek one’s true self. In modern society, life has become convenient by material development and growth, but modern people are faced with the problem of spiritual conflict and debilitation. This problem finally leads to a social problem, and it came to the point where it was necessary to examine the inside of human being and study the unstable human psychological state. Therefore, this study analyzes the mental structure of Jung and tries to interpret the self – prototype manifested as a symbol in the process of individualization through investigation of literary works.
Jung’s theory of Individuation has a significance in seeking true self by exploring psychology with an interest in human"s internal side. Therefore, the theory of Jung can be said to be suitable for restoring the humanity of modern man and understanding human beings positively.
Based on the conclusion that the archetype which exists in the unconsciousness and revealed through symbol of Mandala affects the result and the process of finding true self. This study gives direction to reach individuation process to seek one’s true self with the understanding of the inner side of human being through Mandala.
At the point where we need to check the wound and to understand the modern people’s inside who are suffering from various neuroses, this study is expected to contribute to have a positive understanding of human beings through the theory of Jung.
