초록·키워드
The aim of this study was to examine the influence of 12-week aerobic and resistance training program on carotid artery flow velocity, carotid artery function, and peak systolic flow velocity (PSV)/maximum carotid luminal diameter(CLDmax) ratio in obese adults women.
A total of 30 obese women(44.0±4.7years, body fat ≥ 32.0%) were divided into a control group (n=15) and combined exercise group (n= 15). The 12‐week combined exercise program, which included aerobic and resistance exercise, consisted of a 40-60 minute per session, 5 days per week. Carotid artery variables were measured using B-mode ultrasound. The differences in the variables and the relative changes between baseline and the 12-week follow-up data were evaluated. Repeated two-way analysis of variance(ANOVA) results, carotid artery compliance(CAC), PSV, and PSV/CLDmax ratio showed significant interaction(p<.05, p<.05, p<.01). In paired t-test results of the exercise group, CAC, PSV, and PSV/CLDmax were significantly increased(p<.05, p<.01, p<.01) after 12 weeks. But, the other carotid artery variables were no interaction. The 12-week combined exercise training effectively increased CAC, PSV, and PSV/CLDmax ratio in obese middle-aged women. Therefore, combined exercise training is thought to contribute to the improvement of carotid artery flow velocity and arterial function in obese adults women.
