When looking at the leisure activities and educational needs of the elderly, the percentage of respondents who said they were middle class was higher in the elderly schools/colleges than in the elderly clubs, higher among the females than males, and higher among the elderly living with the family than single elderly people. The findings from a survey of leisure activities show that in the case of the elderly schools/colleges, females spend time doing “domestic chores(31.8%)” and “watching TV or listening to the radio(25.1%),” while males “participate in culture lectures(41.7%)” and ”climb mountains and take walks(18.3%).” In the elderly club, females spend time “taking care of grandchildren(5.8%),” “doing domestic chores(18.8%),” and the males “take care of grandchildren(53.7%)” and “talk with friends(20.7%).” As to the difficulties or complaints in using leisure time, most said health was a problem and also having little money to spend on leisure activities.
