This study proposes a direction for the development of health smart homes considering user experience based on the concept of smart homes emphasizing health and wellness The direction includes technical support and space planning as well as residential services. A questionnaire survey was conducted with 1-2 households of 30-39 year olds who are economically independent from their parents in Seoul. A total of 130 copies were used for analysis including frequency, mean, crossover, T-test, and F-test. 1-2 households generally pursue a free and independent life compared to those of multi-family households. Housing activities of 1-2 households in their 30s were analyzed in relation to health and wellness, and their needs for housing support services were identified based on the analysis. In addition to the basic activities(IADLs) and instrumental activities(EADLs), 1-2 households require different technical support and space planning for the wellness such as health and exercise compared to other generations. This study provides the direction of health smart homes in terms of connecting with the community level as well as the unit level. Proposed residential services were divided into two types: physical and psychological services, and applied technologies were suggested based on the result of the respondents’ preference to them.
