Big data analysis is the process of discovering a meaningful correlation, pattern, and trends in large data set stored in existing data warehouse management tools and creating new value. Currently, it is estimated that about 2 billion people in the world will intake more than 1,900 kinds of edible insects. The population consuming edible insects are distributed mainly in Africa and the Asian continent. Recently, also in developed countries such as the US and Europe is interested in this field increasing. Last year, the market size of the domestic insect industry totaled by the ministry of agriculture, food and rural affairs reached 300 billion won, it is expected to grow 500 billion won in 2020. We reviewed a total of 91 studies published on the topic related as edible insects between 2000 and 2018 in Korea major academic journals. Consequently, we suggest the theoretical and practical implications of these results.
