초록· 키워드
“Gangdogidam” was a book of witticism that was published in 1922 by the devoted contribution of domestic and foreign Christians in the Japanese Colonial Era, and the book contains the intention of the narrator on trying to sermon the gospel and awaken the meaning oflife to the Christians and non-Christians.
Sections 1-33 in the book are stated in the composition of serial number in the preface – title – body – comments by the narrator. Among them, Section 24 has comments, but there are comments missing in Section 9.
Considering that this book is described in the quotes from the Bible and Christianity, or names of the people, animals and domestic & foreign countries, and dialect of Pyeongan-do, significant reference value is acknowledged on this book on verifying various features of the useful descriptions used at that time.
The narrator of this book accommodated the stories of “Gyosujapsa”, “Usunsori”, “Mangogidam” and “Paldojaedamjip” that were published this book, but also reorganized into the unique stories of the narrator, and this book has close connection with the books published afterwards, including “Gogumgidamjip”, “Chosunpaldoiksal & Jaedam”.
There is no doubt on the point that the narrator of this book referred to forms of various previous stories, fables, and even folk songs or Chinese poemstyle A&A, Bible quotes and old sayings describe the overall social issues in the Christian view such as the indolence of the preacher, ethics of the society or an individual, harm of early marriage, wicked wife, good deed and love, etc.
Due to the oppression of the Japanese in this Japanese Colonial Era, national or social issues, or the lively & fun stories were not learly included in this book, but through the witticism of the preachers at that time, we cannot disregard its effectiveness as the fable that spread the Gospels of Christianity.
