Leisure constraint can be defined as any factor that intervenes between leisure and satisfaction with one`s leisure. Most of the literature continues to indicate that adolescents` leisure is highly constrained. The primary purpose of this study was to identify constraining factors to participate in sport activities among a sample of Korean juveniles. This study was based on Crawford, Jackson, and Godbey`s (1991) model of leisure constraints. Using purposive sampling method, 315 adolescents were approached and asked to participate in this study. The respondents selected for this study consisted of Junior and senior high schools located in Seoul, Korea. It was found that perceived constraints among the sample are multidimensional, composed of intrapersonal, interpersonal, and structural dimensions. Further it was noted that different constraining dimensions influence differently on juveniles` behavioral participation in leisure sport activities. Future research directions are provided in the discussion.
