This study reviewed preceding studies and analyzed current state of overseas Korean language education, to provide a basic data that utilized in expanding and activating overseas Korean education.
So far, overseas Korean language education was supported not only by private dimension led with domestic college but state－run foundation. From the 2000s, the growing interest in Korea and Korean culture and the spread of Korean wave increased the demand of Korean language education. To meet this global interest, a national led overseas Korean language education project was conducted.
In the overseas environment, various factors like curriculum policies, professional manpower, educational contents, education facilities are limited to realize high quality Korean language education. The systemization and practical support plan for the expansion project of Korean language education should be prepared at the national level.
This study provides a foundation for the search of resolution to expand Korean language education leading from foreign faculty by analyzing overseas Korean studies info of Korea Exchange Foundation and reviewing the preceding studies of offer standing and current state of foreign faculty Korean (Korean study).
