The primary objectives of this study are 1) to clarify the impact of controlling coaching style of Judo coaches on training engagement and Coach-Athlete relationship and 2) to contribute to coaching development. To achieve the research aims, high school and college Judo players who are registered as athletes in the Korea Judo Association were selected as the participants for the current study. A total of 395 questionnaires were collected with the convenience sampling method. The questionnaire items that were used in the previous studies related to the impact of controlling coaching style of Judo coaches on training engagement and coach-athlete relationship were modified and complemented to meet the purpose of this study via the experts’ agreement. The researcher explained the purpose of the current study and the procedure to the Judo coaches at high schools and college and then visited each selected high school and college to distribute and collect the questionnaire. The results were analyzed employing exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis using the SPSS 21.0 version statistical program. As the results, the following conclusion was derived. First, the controlling coaching style of the Judo coaches has a significant effect on the training engagement. Secondly, the controlling coaching style of the Judo coaches has a significant effect on the Coach-Athlete relationship. Thirdly, the training engagement of judo Athletes has a significant effect on the Coach-Athlete relationship.
