Until now, a number of studies on the Korean War and Korean protestantism were done. But nothing treated what Korean local churches contributed to ROK Armed Forces during the war. The Korean local churches which recognized the Korean War as the fighting against an enemy of God supported the ROK armed forces. Through Korean Protestant newspapers, this study approaches how Korean local churches contributed to ROK armed forces during the war.
This study treats five points in a large way. First, It refers Korean Protestants’ understanding about the war. And it looks into the facts Korean local churches consoled soldier at the front and encouraged them. And it treats disabled veterans who had groaned with a wound of the war but returned to the fighting line or the world through the consolation of Korean Protestants. The results of these consolatory activities are also examined. It also examines how these activities was viewed in secular newspapers and other materials. And Through these, the purpose of this study is to reveal Korean local churches were unseen contributors of protection of their country.
