The purpose of this study is to assess the relationship between religious orientation and happiness among Korean Christian students. Participants in this study were 549 Korean Christian undergraduate students of C University, selected using random stratified sampling. C University is a major Christian university in Seoul, Korea. The results of this study can be summarized into two takeaways: firstly, Korean Christian undergraduate students showed positive results across happiness variables, such as life satisfaction, joy, self-esteem, and calm, with the exception of control and efficacy; and secondly, the particular correlates that were found suggest that intrinsic religious orientation is likely to relate positively with happiness variables, including life satisfaction, joy, self-esteem, calm, control, and efficacy. However, extrinsic religious orientation does not show such a relation to happiness variables. In conclusion, perhaps most crucially, intrinsic religious orientation seems to be one of the important significant predictors of happiness, while this is not the case for extrinsic religious orientation.
