The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the items and contents of the criteria for recognition of each system in Japan"s Disaster Prevention Apartment Accreditation System to present reference materials for developing relevant systems in South Korea. The results of the study are as follows. First, the local government had prepared a detailed certification system after presenting a large guideline at the Tokyo government level in Japan. Local governments should need to be prepare their own certification system by taking into account regional situations, such as geographical and demographic characteristics. Second, it was found that seismic and fire resistance should be built in from a structural perspective in terms of the contents of each certification scheme. In the planning aspect, it need to be considered the preparation of furniture conduction prevention, anti-disaster warehouse, fall-proof measure, and disaster toilets were necessary and from an operational management perspective. In the aspect of disaster prevention plans, local organization participation, the securing of emergency drinking water and food supplies were prepared for disaster prevention.
