The purposes of this study were to compare and analyze movement exercise abilities and functions of locomotor skill(running, jumping, hopping, and skipping) and object control skills(throwing, hitting, receiving, and kicking) of early childhood kids, and to provide data for improving exercise abilities during the early childhood. Eighty eight kids who were three to six years old from four child care institutions in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, and Incheon were recruited. And, for the purpose of this study, the various locomotor skills and object control skills were recorded and analyzed. Three observers were involved in the coding of data for this study, in an effort to achieve a high level of inter-observer agreement. Inter-observer Agreement (IOA) was conducted to confirm the reliability of the primary observer’s coding of kids skills. One recorded lesson from each skil was randomly chosen for IOA analysis. Agreement was established when codes from all three observers’ reached 90 percent or above for that lesson, thereby confirming that data collected was reliably coded. The results revealed that male kids showed late development in all stages compared to Payne & Isaacs(2008) standards except for the second stage of jumping and third stage of hopping. And more than 80% of male kids showed that the basic exercise functions were not balanced, thus it seemed that the early child’s physical education programs should be expanded to improve early kids’ physical activity functions. As a result, this study were expected to be used as basic data for improving exercise abilities of kids and contribute to serve as a certain criteria for youth physical education program.
