The purpose of this review paper aims to debunk our myths toward Asian-American parents and children and extend our knowledge of Asian-Americans. First, the meaning of two myths about Asian-American parenting and Asian-American children’s achievement is addressed. After investigating empirical research, the results suggest that, contrary to the stereotype, there may be greater variation among Asian-Americans in terms of children’s educational achievement and parental involvement practices. Finally, the importance of Asian-American parent involvement in education to boost children’s achievement is discussed based on the rationale of Bourdieu’s cultural capital theory.
