The purpose of this study is to analyze and describe the meanings of water in the Thai language and culture and to consider an aspect of Thai culture from a new perspective. According to the results of this study, many words and idioms related to water appear richly in the Thai language from a linguistic point of view. When the properties of water in Thai culture are viewed based on the words related to water, they are represented as coldness, flexibility, life force, flow, washing off, etc., and are the symbolism of danger, adversity, the use of life, opportunity, power, mind, hope, words and actions, education, society, symbiosis, habitat, etc. Water in Thai culture was analyzed to mean cleaning up body and mind in religious rituals related to Buddhism and Hinduism and in festivals and bath rituals such as Songkran and Loi Krathong. And since they like to live along waterside in the tropical climate, the pillar-shaped house which is the house built on the pillar set up in the riverside, the floating house which is built on stilts over the water, and the floating market have been developed. Language is bound to reflect its society and culture. The Thai language represents Thai culture in many different fields that has been formed by Thai people who have lived in the tropical monsoon climate and accepted Buddhism and Hinduism very early. It is expected that, through this study, the water culture of Thailand can be seen from a different perspective, and the Thai language can be understood more in depth.
