This article aims to explore the history of Christian universities and colleges in Korea. The histories are the gloomy stories about the loss or weakening of Christian identity and characteristics in the Korean Christian universities and colleges. In the past, Christian higher learning institutions have played a very important role in the development of higher education, but also in the improvement of the Korean society and politics. In the meantime, they have lost not just academic excellence, but also moral excellence. It has many causes as following: First, they had no distinct foundation idea and vision based on Christian faith, and couldn't reinterpret it relevantly to face the rapidly changing society. Second, their rapid expansion forced them to be susceptible to the commercial power and secular thoughts. Since the non-belief students are majority
