Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine whether parenting sense of competence and parent-child communication had a positive impact on parent-child relational satisfaction and parental role satisfaction for parents with adolescents. Methods: The subjects consisted of 232 parents with adolescents. Data was analyzed by the SPSS and AMOS programs. Results:Parenting sense of competence showed a direct effect on parent-child relational satisfaction. Parenting sense of competence showed an indirect effect on parental role satisfaction. Parent-child communication showed a direct effect on parent-child relational satisfaction and parental role satisfaction. Parent-child relational satisfaction showed a direct effect on parental role satisfaction for parents with adolescents. Parenting sense of competence positively correlated to parent-child communication. Conclusion: These results suggest that parent-child relational satisfaction and parental role satisfaction for parents with adolescents can be increased by emphasizing parenting sense of competence and parent-child communication. Based on the outcomes of this study, it is necessary to design an intervention program that emphasizes increasing the parenting sense of competence and parent-child communication in order to increase parent-child relational satisfaction and parental role satisfaction.
