In this study, two pretreatments method, i.e. freon extraction method and SPE(Solid Phase Extraction) method using a chelate disc were applied to the analysis of trace heavy metals in seawater. The recoveries of two pretreatment methods were compared and the concentrations of trace heavy metals seawater sample collected in Gosung were determined. To verify if the pretreatment methods under study could be used for seawater samples, CASS-4 SRM(Standard Reference Material) was analyzed and then the measured values and the certified values of SRM were compared to calculate recoveries. For chelate disc pretreatment method the recoveries of 9 elements except Cr and Zn were 80-120% while for freon extraction method the recoveries of 9 elements except Cu and Zn were 70-80%.
