The purpose of this study is to lay the groundwork for effective and efficient multicultural policies in Korea by comparing the Korean multicultural policies with Canadian multicultural policies. Therefore, this study explored the cultural state of multiculturalism, multicultural policies, and multicultural programs in Korea and Canada. The recommendations in order to establish further policies are as follows: First, the direction of multicultural policies should be coherent; second, as witnessed in Canada, independent organizations composed of service workers with various ethnic origins need to be supported by the Korean government to provide support services for their nationals; third, the benefit of multicultural policies should be given to everyone regardless of race, national origin, religion, and educational background. Lastly, Koreans should improve their understanding and awareness of the value of a multicultural society.
