A resolution and execution of moving the capital of Germany occurred at the times of essential changes from a viewpoint of political power relations that influenced greatly economically, security and alliance policy within Germany. Moving of the federal government and the national parliament can be considered as the products resulted from a reform demanded in such unified Germany. It is clear that moving the capital to Berlin contributed to spiritual unification between residents of East and West Germany, and it is a fact that Berlin benefited by becoming the center of politics, media and communication fields as the new capital. In addition, there is no doubt that it benefited from prosperous construction occurred due to moving of the federal government and the national parliament. Furthermore, service businesses related to politics directly and indirectly possessed the special significance economically also, and Berlin having a possibility of developing into the center of learning and tourism in the future can be evaluated as positive from an economical aspect. However, an optimistic prospect concerning the economic development of Berlin presented by a large number of economic research institutes since a resolution for moving the capital was alienated from the realities of life in many parts. A hope of developing into the new center of the manufacturing industry and research & development also has not yet been realized.The development of Berlin as the capital is still in progress. In addition, how such development would progress while having what kinds of effects on unification of the citizens of former East and West Berlin, and further on the residents of former East and West Germany will be depended on multiple variables, including the efforts of Berlin City itself, cooperation between Berlin and other German federation provinces, and the direction of Germany’s diplomacy on neighboring countries.
