This research aims to discern 5 different words describing pain ― apeu-da, ari-da, ssusi-da, sseurari-da, sseuri-da ― according to their syntactic, semantic and pragmatic characteristics based on the corpus data. In their syntactic characteristics, the words can be differentiated based on their word class and the probability of the second noun phrase dropping. In their semantic characteristics, although all the words still describe some kind of pain in the body, they can be discerned based on which body parts the pain is given to or whether they can have additional meaning such as describing emotional pain. In their pragmatic characteristics, the words can be categorized according to which genre they appear the most.
