The purpose of this study is to examine the function and transcription method of the non-verbal elements. By transcribing and annotating of TV program <Mwuluppak tosa>, the function of non-verbal elements are divided into three types: the stage of the conversation as the non-verbal elements,non-verbal elements which appear within conversation, and non-verbal elements of media. In this study, the method of transcription which can be connected with video clip is also analyzed: using ELAN program, three different types of non-verbal elements can be transcribed and annotated. For the further studies, however, the examination of tiers and technical terms are inevitable. According to the purpose and intention of individual studies,transcription and annotation methods in ELAN need to be adjusted.
