So far various research trends analyses have been conducted in KFL/KSL research area, but none for Korean for Academic Purposes(KAP). This paper presents a qualitative research synthesis of the studies on the KAP area which published between 2000(January) to 2013(April). Over all 232 research papers (journal articles 97, dissertations 135) came out during the time, and they were classified as per the research topics and the year published. The research topics were set up such as (1) teaching contents, (2) teaching methods, (3) instructional design, (4) teaching materials, (5) evaluation, (6) needs analysis, (7) learners, (8) corpus linguistics, (9) current status. The research periods of the KAP could be divided into (1) first stage(2000 to 2004), (2) second stage(2005 to 2008), (3) third stage(2009 to 2011), (4) forth stage(2012 to current). The results show that the KAP research articles and dissertations are unbalanced in topics, and the majority of them leant to the topics of teaching contents and teaching methods. Therefore for the future researches it should be much more various and expanded in terms of research topics. Finally, this is focused on quantitative analysis, so it is hard to comment such as theoretical framework. Thus qualitative analysis should be followed.
