ASEAN is one of the main markets in the world economy. Many companies from all over the world are competing each other to take more market share in the stage. Furthermore, the governments of countries are also trying to make better legal infrastructures to improve their trade relations with ASEAN members. The region is also becoming more attractive target for the international investment companies.
FTA can be the main legal infrastructure for the purpose. This international legal tool may provide freer trade and business environment than normal multinational international (WTO) laws. Recently, many countries are making FTAs to build more favourable trade and business environment. The infrastructure is useful for the improvement of the economic cooperations between members.
The Korea-ASEAN FTA provides the framework for the economic or trade relations among the members. Furthermore, Korea also has and will have more bilateral FTAs with ASEAN members. They are expecting that the FTAs can be the legal infrastructures for the closer cooperations between the partners.
