This study is significant in that leisure and sport-related regional festivals were studied as a term commonly used in society despite the absence of the concept based on academic consensus. Also, unlike existing research focused on cultural tourism festivals, this study produced insights by conducting the survey on visitors of leisure and sport-related regional festivals to analyze the actual relationship between their visiting motivation, experience, and satisfaction. In particular, a good example of regional festivals was used for the research. For example, 2016 Yeongam Motor & Leisure Sports Festival was designed by Jeonnam Development Corporation and Jeollanam Province to provide various experience programs which are composed of motor sports and leisure sports. It is expected that the demand for leisure and sport-related regional festivals significantly increases, considering today’s social and cultural trend with the focus on experience and the government’s keynote of policy which emphasizes the promotion of sports tourism. This means that the value of leisure and sport-related regional festivals should increase as a experience-based product which meets tourism market demands. In this respect, this study sought to generate theoretical perspectives on consumer behavior of regional festivals and to provide insights and the methods to induce consumers’satisfaction at the festivals and heighten their experiences in tourism. Given the purpose of the study, the effects tourists’ motivation in visiting leisure and sport-related regional festivals on their experiences and satisfaction were examined.
