The purpose of this study was to find points that Korean science curriculum for the elementary and secondary schools would direct through searching changes in the basic directions, objectives and contents of the science curriculum. The results from analyzing Korean science curriculum for the elementary and secondary schools, which has been under many revision by this time, were as follows. It was from the 2nd through 5th curricula that the importance of science education was involved in the basic directions of the curriculum. Among objectives of the science curriculum,having interest and curiosity for science, raising scientific and rational attitudes and problem solving abilities, understanding basic concepts and fundamental principles of science, acquiring scientific inquiring methods and recognizing the science-technology-society were presented persistently. In the contents of the science curriculum, the importance has been moved from the practical facts to basic concepts and fundamental principles, and nowadays there has been an emphasis on properties of science such as fusion and introduction of the most advanced scientific technology. This study confirmed points that science curriculum have emphasized on persistently through many revisions. Because those points constructed the stem of science curriculum and were pursued persistently,Korean science curriculum for the elementary and secondary schools has contributed in raising the people who are full of scientific literacy and Korean people`s scientific literacy level was one of the most important factors by which Korea has grown to the top 10 economic nations worldwide.
