The purpose of this study was to develop the portfolio system for nurturing the creativity in elementary science class. With studying literature, the elements of the portfolio system were determined in order to develop the portfolio system. The material was composed of objective, assignment and assessment, which are relevant to the elements of creativity and applied to elementary science curriculum of the 6th grade second semester, focusing on the lesson 'A Clear Environment'. The principle for this is as follows: The first, in introduction, students had an opportunity to think of the context ahead with flexibility and sensitivity. The second, in learning activity course, students could make it with various creative methods such as brainstorming, visual note taking and mind mapping. In addition, they assessed themselves for improving next activity. The third, in a wrapping-up step, students recorded what they understood and assessed one another for themselves. The portfolio assessment was concerned as criterion of portfolio assessment on how a student could reach one's objective, how much a student collected the supplementary information as well as essential one, how much a student took part in the activities, how well a student shared the information with the others and what a student records and so on. As criteria of creativity, sensitivity, originality, flexibility, fluency, elaboration and reorganization were stated. Results of this study applied to elementary science class were as follows: 1. This portfolio system was to show that students could find out the objective for themselves. 2. The students were motivated to solve the problems creatively. 3. It seemed that they were interested in the class by recording what they had understood while teacher could see easily if students made it creatively.
