The purpose of this study was to examine effects of using learning motivation induction strategy on the learning motivation and achievement in high school biology instruction. Subjects were 118 students of 12th grade in 5 classes were sampled from a high school in Incheon metropolitan city. Learning motivation strategy had three components of participation motivation, continuance motivation and continuation motivation. The students was divided into two groups; the one was control group which was taught by traditional teaching and the other was experimental group which was taught by using learning motivation strategy in high school biology instruction. So, the instruction using learning motivation strategy improved continuance motivation and continuation motivation as well as participation motivation, which led students to have motivation during entire classes. In addition, it was shown that using learning motivation strategy was more effective on improving the achievement than teaching by traditional explaining. In conclusion, it can have positive effect on learning motivation in studying science to develop.
