한국임상암학회의 전이성 전립선암의 치료지침 개발의목적은 1) 치료지침 개발 과정을 통해 전문가 간의 관련 의학지식 및 경험을 공유하는 기회가 되고, 2) 실제 진료를 담당하는 의료진에게는 종양학적 원칙에 입각한 실제적인 표준 치료 정보를 제공하여, 3) 환자에게 최선의 결과를 가져올수 있는 다학제 진료가 진행성 전립선암에서 잘 정착되도록도모하며, 4) 환자와 일반인에게는 실제적이고 표준적인 의학 정보를 제공하여 담당 의료진과 충분히 상의 후 최적의치료 방법을 결정하는 데 도움을 주고자 한다. 본 지침의 활용 및 보급의 통해 국내 전이성 전립선암의 치료 수준을 향상시키고 이를 통하여 환자의 생명을 연장하고 삶의 질을 개선하여 국민 보건 향상에 이바지하고자 한다.
본 치료지침은 실제 환자를 보는 의료진이 쉽게 이해할수 있도록 하기 위하여 교과서적 기술보다는 분야별 구체적인 핵심질문을 통한 근거 중심의 표준 권고안을 작성하고 근거의 질과 권고의 강도를 제시한 포괄적인 치료지침이다.
